Some animals use sonar to find their way around the world. My little animals have perfected this practice into mamanar.
Mamanar, used mostly by my youngest, is the act of walking around the house, or where ever we may be at the time, and repeatedly saying, "mama, mama, mama" as a way of locating me. This practice has served them fairly well as no matter where I am they eventually get a response from me and are able to find me for what ever reason it is that they were in need of my presence.
I don't know if mamanar is used by all children but I vaguely remember using it myself as a child to locate my own mother. I also remember her attempting to change her name to an explicit word that we were not allowed to use to try to deter us. Of course it didn't work and we continued to use mamanar until the day we eventually moved out.
As a mother I too find the use of mamanar as extremely annoying and have also thought of changing my name to an explicit. However, knowing that it didn't work for my mother when she attempted it years ago I don't have much confidence in it working for me either.
Oh the things we endure from our children.
